Greetings from UTTAR PRADESH DIABETES Association. It gives me immense pleasure to introduce you to a landmark association of health care providers working in the field of diabetes in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The Association now enters the silver jubilee year of its inception.

The association was the visionary thought of our founding father Prof Dr A R Sircar who unfortunately is no longer with us. He could probably see the upcoming explosion in the realm of diabetes knowledge and could understand the need for disseminating this knowledge to most physicians practising in the state of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.What started as a small fire of information and knowledge in 2001 in form of UPDA Conference in Varanasi has now turned into a huge conflagrationof  learning , research and sharing of wisdom and expertise .There is an ongoing upheaval in the scientific knowledge in the field of diabetes. Many old concepts are being rejected and even more new concepts keep on floating every day. Sometimes it becomes difficult for the health care providers to really keep abreast with this churning of knowledge. The association and its annual conferences help in bridging the gap between the new and the outmoded.

It has been a long journey since the inception of UPDA and its annual conference UPDACON.ByGod’s grace and your well wishes UPDACON will be celebrating its silver anniversary this year. I am extremely pleased that UPDACON has been able to continue the series despite such adversities like thecovid epidemic, without failing each year.

As the president of the association, on behalf of UPDA,I invite you all to be a part of this thriving association and contribute actively to knowledge sharing   amongst the members and ultimately enhancing patient care in our state.
